Sierra Forever Families is a private non-profit foster family/adoption agency that focuses on finding permanency for children and youth in the foster care system and provides an array of other community-based services to families and children who may be at risk of entering the child welfare system. We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic and passionate social worker for a half-time position as a Family Preservation Social Worker/Parent Educator in Eastern Nevada County. (Truckee area).

Position Summary

The social worker will be part of a Multi-Disciplinary team that provides community-based, strengthbased services to families in Eastern Nevada County who may be at risk of child abuse/neglect or those who already are involved in the child welfare system. The social worker will provide in-home services that will assess and assist the family with strength enhancing services.

 

Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) or masters in a related human services field

• Knowledge of Medi-Cal (EPSDT) billing and procedures

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

• Experience working with at-risk children and families

• Knowledge of the child welfare system

• Knowledge of mental health issues and community resources

• Strong practical and theoretical foundation in strength-based practices

• Knowledge of wrap around and community-based program principles

• Knowledge of Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) principles preferred

• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other team members, county child welfare agencies and community resource agencies

• Proficiency in computer technology

• Willingness to work non-traditional hours as the job necessitates

• Cultural competence to work with diverse populations

• Possess a valid California driver’s license, provide proof of adequate vehicle insurance and have access to reliable transportation.

• Must submit to and pass health screen, TB test, criminal record and child abuse index clearances.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for assisting families in creating a safe and healthy environment in which to raise their children and be a creative and effective solution oriented social worker who is comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment within the agency and with community partners.
